One of Indonesia's most underappreciated tourism destinations is the Banggai district of Sulawesi, which boasts beaches, caves, waterfalls, and animals in addition to the stunning blue lake known as Paisupok. It's a little more difficult than visiting other Sulawesi locations because this is a large region that encompasses three distinct regencies: Banggai, Banggai Islands, and Banggai Laut. The fact that my wife is Indonesian was really beneficial. We traveled independently to the Banggai islands, booking our own lodging and transportation at every stop along the way. This blog article will show you how to do the same. To make it easier, I'll also provide you with some local tour guide contacts whether you'd like to go on a solo trip or join a group.
The starting and finishing points of this Banggai islands itinerary are Luwuk, a town in central Sulawesi with a population of roughly 35,000.From Makassar in South Sulawesi, there are several daily flights to the Luwuk airport (LUW); alternatively, you can hire a car and travel overland from Ampana to Luwuk after seeing the Togean islands, another pleasant Sulawesi destination.
You will need to stop in Makassar en route to Luwuk if you are traveling there from Bali, Jakarta, or another location in Indonesia.
